Restart the computer and install Windows Vista SP1. I think it safe to assume that the problem is unlikely to resolved at this point! I have tried to install in a 'Cleanboot Environment' & it was still 'successful' but not actually loaded. I took my laptop to a repair shop, and they did an admirable job of fixing it.
Figured, no interference that way but before installing SP2 I will be switching everything back to its normal ways and if it doesn't work, I already know what to do!!! I had to download version 7.4 of the update agent (KB946928) which did install properly. First off request one, because you should have gotten it. Has anyone encountered this problem and found a way to resolve it?
