As I stated in a previous post: "We use VS 2010 quite successfully now with SQL 2000. I do feel, and I spout this where I work too, that support for a decade old database engine is going to be phased out sooner rather than later. So to remove the support from VS for SQL 2000 seems counter intuitive for those attempting the conversion.
