In each Win 7 & Win 8: Control Panel -> Homegroup, Click on Leave Homegroup Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Services. Vista had no problem, but the XP machine would not allow the network through until weshut off the firewalls on both. At the present time, I have not installed Norton on the Dual Core and I have turned off the firewall, no help there. Both are using Windows firewall with FIle and Printer Sharing and Network Discovery checked in the exceptions list.

Password Protection is disabled on both. Vista is not the one with the trouble really. If you canâ€™t ping them, then that means that there is something wrong with the network connection itself. In addition I have Windows Vista and Windows 8 pcs that simultaneously connect over this network.

I can't see my PC from my laptop when I pull up my workgroup. navigate to this website there should be at least the 2 machines on the 'local network'. I have a Vista desktop, a Windows 8 laptop and a Macbook on a home network.
