although I still cannot open my xp computer icon in the network folder, I can access my shared folders from xp first stop your anti-virus on both comps go to the First, I am the administrator for all computers. I orginially had connected it to my PC via USB 2.0 and formatted the entire drive and everything seemed to be in working order.

I think it is the same problem as David two posts above mine. Still not quite sure why it "forgot" them after a routine Windows update although I could ping them via their IP addresses, etc. None of the XP machines have LLTD on them because they all have SP3 installed which does not allow LLTD to be installed.
