Normally, when I insert disk into cd-rom, Gnome manages to open me a window with content of cd. WHat do you mean about installing it? I will make an edit to my post to show you the results. Yesterday I decided to reinstall Kubuntu (clean install) via the built in DVD-drive. After many regular Ubuntu 10.10 updates I found that my system now is playing Audio CDs in Rhythmbox and in Banshee. Now I installed xubuntu-desktop on my laptop (with 12.04) to find out what happens if I start a xubuntu session and insert an audio-CD. If I open a terminal and check with the >> "mount" command, I can't see anything mounted which looks like the >> audio-CD.
